Resolution 61/2 (South Sudan) A/HRC/RES/61/2

27 March 2026

On 27 March the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 61/2 on South Sudan. The resolution renewed the mandate of the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan and recalls that “the Government of South Sudan has the responsibility to protect its population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.” The resolution was adopted by a vote of 25 in favor, 4 against and 18 abstentions.
