Peacekeeping, Civilian Protection and the Responsibility to Protect: A Handbook for Trainers and Supplemental Documents

This handbook was developed by the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect with the generous support of the Government of Canada. This course aims to introduce participants to the principles of the Responsibility to Protect populations from mass atrocity crimes and to strengthen the capacity of UN peacekeepers to identify the warning signs of atrocities and understand the means the mission has at its disposal to respond to such crimes. The documents below are designed for use by trainers who have attended one of the Global Centre’s trainings to aid in facilitating their own courses and modules on the Responsibility to Protect and Peacekeeping.
