To mark the 20th anniversary of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), which was unanimously adopted at the 2005 UN World Summit, the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and R2P released an interview series with experts on human rights and atrocity prevention. H.E. Blanka Jamnišek of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the National R2P Focal Point of the Republic of Slovenia, expresses alarm at the failure to uphold the responsibility to protect in many situations around the world and stresses the fundamental importance and effective implementation of the R2P principle, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.
