Resolution ICC-ASP/24/Res.6 was adopted on 5 December by consensus at the 24th session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute. ICC-ASP/24/Res.6 reaffirms that the International Criminal Court is vital to ending impunity and preventing the recurrence of serious crimes, promoting respect for international humanitarian law and human rights and strengthening the rule of law. In doing so, it contributes to peace, security, justice, conflict prevention and post-conflict reconciliation toward sustainable peace. The resolution also states that “each individual State has the responsibility to protect its population from the crime of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.”
