Resolution 60/3 (Sudan) A/HRC/RES/60/3

6 October 2025

On 6 October the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) adopted Resolution 60/3, which renews the mandate of the Independent International Fact-finding Mission (FFM) for Sudan for a period of one year. The resolution expresses deep concern at the statement by the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide on 23 June 2025 that the risk of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Sudan remains very high. Through the resolution the Council urges the UN, together with the African Union, to accelerate consideration of practical options for enhancing the protection of civilians in the Sudan, in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders and in full recognition of the obligation of the Sudan to act in accordance with International Humanitarian Law and to protect its population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. The resolution was adopted by a recorded vote of 24 in favor, 11 against and 12 abstentions.
