On 18 December 2010 the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 74/166 on the situation in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) by consensus (without a vote). Resolution 74/166 condemns the systematic, widespread and gross violations of human rights in the DPRK, including those that amount to crimes against humanity; encourages the UN Security Council to refer the situation to the International Criminal Court; and recalls that the DPRK government bears the responsibility to protect its population.
