Resolution 31/17 (Syria) A/HRC/RES/31/17

On 23 March 2016 the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on the situation in Syria. Resolution 31/17 condemns the grave deterioration of the human rights situation and the indiscriminate and deliberate targeting of civilians in Syria, demanding that the Syrian authorities meet their responsibility to protect the population. The resolution also endorses the cessation of hostilities in Syria and extends the mandate of the Commission of Inquiry for one year.
