Resolution 2556 (DRC) S/RES/2556

18 December 2020

On 18 December 2020 the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2556 on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The resolution extends the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in DRC until 20 December 2021. The resolution also recalls that “the Government of the DRC bears the primary responsibility to protect civilians within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction, including protection from crimes against humanity and war crimes.”
