Resolution 2457 (Silencing the Guns in Africa) S/RES/2457

27 February 2019

On 27 February 2019 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 247 on Silencing the Guns in Africa. Resolution 2457 recalls that the prevention of conflict remains a primary responsibility of states, and further recalls their responsibility to protect civilians and to respect human rights, as provided for by relevant international law, and further reaffirms the responsibility of each individual state to protect its populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.
