Resolution 2196 (Central African Republic) S/RES/2196

22 January 2015

On 22 January 2015 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2196 on the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR). Resolution 2196 recalls the CAR government bears the primary responsibility to protect all populations within its territory from genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. The resolution also extends the mandate of the Panel of Experts until 29 February 2016.
