Resolution 1706 (Sudan) S/RES/1706

31 August 2006

On 31 August 2006 the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1706 on the situation in Darfur, Sudan. Resolution 1706 recalls “its previous resolutions [including] Resolution 1674 (S/RES/1674) on the protection of civilians in armed conflict, which reaffirms inter alia the provisions of paragraphs 138 and 139 of the 2005 United Nations World Summit Outcome Document.
