Savita Pawnday speaks on a panel regarding “Promoting Human Rights Mechanisms to Prevent Mass Atrocities: Reflections, Challenges, and Ways Forward”

On 8 October Global Centre Deputy Executive Director joined the governments of Costa Rica and Denmarks and Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAAMAC) for a panel on “Promoting Human Rights Mechanisms to Prevent Mass Atrocities: Reflections, Challenges, and Ways Forward.” The panel explored good practices in bringing national legislation and institutions up to international human rights standards with the goal to strengthen the national capacity to prevent the commission or recurrence of mass atrocities. Ms. Pawnday’s remarks focused on how Human Rights Council mechanisms can bring about an impact on national mechanisms to prevent atrocities.
