Resolution 2577 (South Sudan) S/RES/2577

On 28 May 2021 the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2577 on the situation in South Sudan. The resolution renewed the arms embargo, travel ban and assets freeze imposed on South Sudan and select officials until 31 May 2022 and renewed the mandate of the panel of experts. Resolution 2577 also reiterated that the government of South SudanĀ  “bears the primary responsibility to protect its population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.”
