Resolution 2134 (Central African Republic) S/RES/2134

On 28 January 2014 the UN Security Council (UNSC) unanimously adopted Resolution 2134 on the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR). Resolution 2134 extends and reinforces the mandate of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in CAR (BINUCA) for a period of one year. The resolution also provides for a comprehensive sanctions regime, including a travel ban and assets freeze. Acting under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, the UNSC also mandated the deployment of a European Union military operation in CAR for a period of six months.
