During December 2010 the UN held Fifth Committee Negotiations on a budget proposed by the General Assembly’s Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ). One outcome of the process was the approval of new positions within the Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the inclusion of language in the budgetary resolution that references the work of the Office on war crimes, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. In this report, the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect summarizes the negotiations and discusses the implications of the outcome.
