Resolution 2612 (DRC) S/RES/2612

On 20 December 2021 the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2612 on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Resolution 2612 renews the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission in DRC (MONUSCO) until 20 December 2022, with a mandate that prioritizes the protection of civilians and providing support to state institutions, including through assistance with security sector reform. The resolution also recalls that the DRC government “bears the primary responsibility to protect civilians within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction, including protection from crimes against humanity and war crimes.”
