Resolution 2211 (DRC) S/RES/2211

On 26 March 2015 the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2211 on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Resolution 2211 renews the mandate of the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) until 31 March 2016. The resolution also recalls that the DRC authorities bear “the primary responsibility to protect civilians within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction, including protection from crimes against humanity and war crimes,” and stresses “the need for cooperation with the International Criminal Court by the Government of the DRC, welcoming the commitment made by the Government of the DRC to hold accountable those responsible for serious crimes, in particular war crimes and crimes against humanity, in the country, and stressing the importance of actively seeking to hold accountable those responsible for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in the country…”
