Resolution
On 1 April the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 49/35 on South Sudan. The resolution, which was adopted by consensus, requested the High Commissioner provide the government with technical assistance and capacity-building, including on the establishment of the transitional justice institutions under chapter V of the Revitalized Peace Agreement. Resolution 49/35 also recalled that “the Government of South Sudan has the primary responsibility to protect the population.”
