Resolution 2417 (Protection of Civilians) S/RES/2417

24 May 2018

On 24 May 2018 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2417 on the Protection of Civilians in armed conflict. Resolution 2417 calls upon all states to uphold international humanitarian law in conflict and ensure accountability for mass atrocity crimes. The resolution also reaffirms that states bear the primary responsibility to protect the population throughout their whole territory.
