The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect engages with individual states, regional bodies, and civil society as an essential part of clarifying, institutionalizing and advancing R2P. The Global Centre hosts and participates in policy forums on R2P and cross-cutting issue areas as an important part of bridging the knowledge gap on the implementation of R2P nationally, regionally and internationally. By building support for implementation and clarifying the relationship between R2P and other cross-cutting issue areas, we aim to strengthen international capacity to prevent and halt mass atrocity crimes.
To this end, the Global Centre works with partners to facilitate policy discussions in NY, Geneva and in capitals aimed at identifying strategies for strengthening international understanding of R2P and ensuring its effective implementation. The Global Centre also participates in a number of Global Networks on the prevention of mass atrocities, including the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAMAAC) and the Asia Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention.
