By a vote of 29 in favor to 6 against, with 12 abstentions, on 27 March the Human Rights Council adopted a resolution extending the mandate of the Commission Inquiry for one year, strongly condemning the use of chemical weapons in Syria, as well as the use of force by the Syrian authorities against civilians and violence against civilians committed by the Islamic State, and demanding that the Syrian authorities comply with their obligations under Security Council resolutions 2139 (2014) of 22 February 2014, 2165 (2014) of 14 July 2014 and 2191 (2014) of 17 December 2014 in order to enable the immediate and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance directly to people throughout Syria by UN agencies and their implementing partners.
