Resolution 2134 (Central African Republic) S/RES/2134

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2134 on 28 January in response to the situation in the Central African Republic. The Council agreed to extend and reinforce the mandate of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in CAR (BINUCA) for a period of one year. The resolution also provided for a comprehensive sanctions regime, including a travel ban and assets freeze. Acting under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, the UNSC also mandated the deployment of a European Union military operation in CAR for a period of six months.
