Statement by the President of the Security Council (Central African Region) S/PRST/2013/6
This Presidential Statement from the UN Security Council addresses the situation in the Central African region. The statement encourages the ongoing regional, subregional and international efforts to halt the activity of the Lord's Resistance Army, while also encouraging greater cooperation among the organizations active in the region. The statement also raises alarm at the situation developing in the Central African Republic and the decision by all actors to halt LRA operations there until legitimate governance is restored. As with previous LRA-related Presidential Statements, the statement underlines the primary responsibility of states in the region to protect civilians.
