Resolution 2429 (Sudan and South Sudan) S/RES/2429
On 13 July the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2429 on Sudan and South Sudan. Resolution 2429 extends the mandate of the AU/UN Peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID) until 30 June 2019 and authorized troop ceiling should be reduced over the course of this mandate renewal period to consist of up to 4,050 personnel and 2,500 police. The resolution also "[emphasised] that those responsible for violations of international humanitarian law and violations and abuses of human rights must be held accountable and that the Government of Sudan bears the primary responsibility to protect civilians, including women and children, within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction, including protection from crimes against humanity and war crimes."
