Statement by the President of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Myanmar S/PRST/2017/22

On 6 November 2017 the UN Security Council adopted a Presidential Statement on the situation in Myanmar, condemning the widespread violence committed against the Rohingya, calling for the implementation of the recommendations of the Rakhine Commission and emphasizing that Myanmar's authorities have a responsibility to protect "its population including through respect for the rule of law and the respect, promotion and protection of human rights." The statement also requested a briefing by the Secretary-General, which was held on 12 December.
