Resolution 2228 (Sudan - Darfur) S/RES/2228
On 29 June 2015 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2228 on the situation in Darfur, Sudan. Resolution 2228 emphasized that the Government of Sudan bears the primary responsibility to protect civilians within its territory. Additionally the resolution extended the mandate of the UN Assistance Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) until 30 June 2016 and increased the personnel contributions as follows: 15,845 military personnel, 1,583 police personnel and 13 formed police units of up to 140 personnel each.
