Resolution 2339 (Central African Republic) S/RES/2339

On 27 January 2017 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2339 expressing concern over the deteriorating situation in the Central African Republic (CAR). The resolution recalled that "the CAR bears the primary responsibility to protect all populations within its territory from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity," and called on the government of the CAR to move swiftly to implement transparent reconciliation efforts to avert future violence.
