Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar A/HRC/31/71

Four years of wide-ranging reforms have brought fundamental changes to Myanmar. In November 2015, historic general elections were held, and a new Government will shortly be formed. Nonetheless, formidable human rights challenges remain. In the present report, the Special Rapporteur builds on previous reports to identify key priority areas that should be tackled by the new administration. The Special Rapporteur calls upon the new Government to take immediate steps to put an end to the highly discriminatory policies and practices against the Rohingya and other Muslim communities in Rakhine state.
