Conflict Averted Without Anyone Firing a Shot: Subregional, Multilateral Action Helps Prevent Atrocities in The Gambia

On 17 April 2017 the Global Centre's Publications Director, Ms. Jaclyn Streitfeld-Hall, released an article detailing the unfolding of the electoral crisis in The Gambia after then President Yayha Jammeh initially accepted, but later refused to secede power after December 2016 elections. The article focuses on the successful regional efforts to mitigate the crisis which lead to President Jammeh stepping down on 21 January 2017.
