Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE)

The
Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior aims to provide fresh and innovative thinking on Europe’s role in the contemporary international arena and strives to break new ground in its core research interests of peace and security, human rights, democracy promotion, development, and humanitarian action. Its constituencies are both governmental and non-governmental, and its values are rooted in justice, equality and democracy. Located in Madrid, FRIDE benefits from political independence, diversity of views, and the intellectual background of its international staff.
FRIDE has contributed to the debate surrounding the Responsibility to Protect since the principle’s creation in 2001. R2P was a prominent feature in publications and events coinciding with the 2005 World Summit and continues to be a subject for policy research.
In March 2009, Fride and Intermón Oxfam co-hosted an expert forum to discuss R2P, its implementation and its prospects. The conference report is available
